Spring Has Sprung!

I love this time of the year. The weather today is gorgeous! The temperature is in the seventies and everything is coming to life. I was so excited to see my Star Magnolia starting to bloom. It is the prettiest tree. I just hope we do not have any really cold nights or the blooms will turn brown.

Aren't the fuzzy buds so pretty?

I love the soft white color of the blooms.

I am so excited about my vegetable garden. I have purchased several different things to plant tomorrow. I can't wait!

John finished framing one of our submerged/raised beds this week. He will finish the other tomorrow. We will then back fill around the frame, add more soil, and then plant! Wish me luck. I am very new to this.

I'll be sure to post some pictures of the progress we make! It's going to be a busy weekend!

Your magnolia blossoms are so pretty! And your garden plants look so green and healthy! It'll be fun to watch them grow with you! My husband planted potatoes, so our garden is officially underway. But . . . we may have snow here on Sunday! Unbelievable here in Louisiana, and today it's in the 70's! I just hope that the fruit trees and other things aren't killed.

Have a fun weekend!

I love those star magnolias and added one here just last year. It is ripe with buds can't wait! I like the smell of them too.

Your raised bed looks great and it will be a good feeling getting those veggies in the ground. Looks to be a good weekend. Have fun!

I love the magnolia, both the buds and the blooms.

Thank you for your kind comments. After reading your blog I feel like you are my southern friend in nature and God. I look forward to seeing your garden progress. Love the barn. I just wrote a article for a local magazine on greening your backyard - herb pots, garden beds, worms, and fences. If you are interested it can be read online at www.theurbanliaison.com.

Carla, what lovely pictures of magnolia! I love the fluffy buds as much as flowers themselves. You are well prepared for starting vegetable planting, that raised bed can hold a lot! I planted some broccoli, cabbage, fava beans, spinach, lettuce recently. Happy spring to you!

I can't believe your magnolia is blooming already! Ours are so far behind. Am looking forward to watching all of your gardening. Thank goodness for the internet too as it is a very useful tool when we need help with gardening!

Magnolias are only a recent favourite of mine ... I used to think them odd the way they flower on leafless branches.
