Workin' Girl

It's nice to have a workin' girl around the house. My oldest daughter, Catie, works at an ice cream/ produce stand from April until October. She is working hard to make money for a trip to Germany, Austria, and Switzerland this coming April. She loves working in produce and meeting the customers that stop by. Until this weekend, I didn't realize how much she has learned while working.

You may remember the blackberries from my last post. Well, Friday after work, she came in and asked me what I was going to do with the berries. I informed her that I was going to make a cobbler. She got really excited and said, "I'll do it!" I had forgotten that she had mentioned making cobblers at work. Of course I agreed to let her make it and sat back and waited for the finished product.

Here it is!

Who knew that this lovely, talented, beautiful teenager had learned how to cook!

She even added her personal touch to the picture.

I was so excited that I had to break out the fine china for my little snack. It was delicious, too!

I'll tell you, my girls never cease to amaze me! They are growing up way too fast and I am learning that that is not necessarily a bad thing.

Lovely--both Catie and the cobbler! They do grow up way too fast. However, that just brings on new joy. Enjoy it all!!

Best,
Bonnie

We only got a few berries on our little bush this year, I've put them in the freezer and haven't used them yet. PW has a blackberry cobbler that I was going to try soon.
Your daughter's dish looks yummy.

One is never to old to make cobbler nor to bring smiles to those who enjoy good tastes of home-made things! I am reminded of being a teen and doing those things to help my Mom. As one of seven we all learned to chip in and to work!

It's great that she has set a goal to save for her trip. Working hard to save for the things we want/need is a great life lesson.

Her cobbler looks delicious. She is both beautiful and talented, can't beat that.

Oh, My! That cobbler looks delicious - and looks just like the ones my mama used to make! I'm thinking how good that would taste with ice cream! My husband is diabetic, so I don't make those desserts. But I do love cobblers! I probably could use Splenda and make it taste almost like the real thing.

Your girls are so beautiful; I know you are so proud of them!

Ah yes, Carla... they do grow up fast! Mine too. At 17 and 19 looks like our girls are perhaps the same age. My youngest is the one that loves to bake and try her hand at cooking too. Best wishes to Catie in her savings for her trip :-D
