More Simple Summer Pleasures

I have enjoyed reading every one's comments on their simple summer pleasures. It seems that we all have many things that we enjoy about summertime. Although the weather is still very hot here in the southeast, it has not put a damper on the pleasures of summer. Today was one of those days filled with little moments that make life worthwhile.

This morning I went to my dad's house for him to change the oil in my Jeep. While he was changing the oil, (thanks Dad!) I went blackberry picking! He has several large bushes that are full of berries. They are the thorn less variety and are easy to pick. He is going to make some blackberry wine with the ones he picks. I think I'll make a blackberry cobbler with mine.

You may remember my post about getting a ticket to see Jersey Boys a while back; The couple wouldn't take any money for the ticket, so I decided to make them a gift of fresh pesto, blackberries, and cherry tomatoes. Do you think they will like it?

After picking berries and tomatoes, and making pesto, I went to a friend's pool with some sweet little girls. Carson got new braces yesterday and gave a big smile to show them off.

My cousin's little girls were enjoying the pool too!

Aren't they the cutest things? I remember when my girls were that little. My how time flies.

Fresh berries, good friends, cool pools, and smiling kids- these are some more of my simple summer pleasures!

Great idea on the gift.
I have a couple of those thorn less blackberries that I brought back from Ala. The birds seem to get to them before I do. Even the squirrels eat them. I have gotten a couple this yr. Some of them are a lot larger than they have been. I have mine on an arbor but they seem to want to grow side ways on the chain link fence. I can't let that happen as the neighbors don't know that they are thorn less & seem to cut them off. Arrrggg.

I'd certainly be thrilled to get that "thank you" gift! Andrew and I (Oliver, too) are off to the farmers' market in just a bit. I hope we'll find some berries today. Cherry tomatoes would be nice too. We are further north from you so will probably have to wait awhile longer.

Sweet little girls enjoying a summer swim.

Best,
Bonnie

These kids are so cute! You have a nice little bounty! I love blackberries and when I am onver at friend's in the countryside and at the right season, I go for walks and pick here and there the wild berries ... so good!

Lovely young ladies and what could be better than having a dad close by.

We will soon harvest some Marionberries here (larger than blackberries and less seed); our blackberries don't arrive until the end of summer.
Have a wonderful weekend Carla.
