A Country Weekend

There has been a lot happening in the country this weekend. The vegetable garden is growing by leaps and bounds. We now have tiny tomatoes growing on the vine and sweet basil to go along with them. Some of our broccoli was ready to cut. How exciting!

I have been taking pictures of anything that will be still for any length of time...

....bluebirds

...dragonflies

...tiny frogs

...and turkeys!

Well, only one turkey.

It has been paying a visit to our pond each morning for a drink.

Today it put on quite a show.

After strutting around for a while, it decided to roll around in the grass and shake out its feathers. I'm not sure what it was trying to accomplish, but it sure did look funny.

Life in the country is very laid back and relaxed, but it is never boring. Right now we are getting some much needed rain. I think I'll turn in for the night and fall asleep listening to its song. Hope you had a wonderful weekend!

All of them are lovely but I especially like the frog and the goldfinch.

I'm impressed that you got a picture of the frog -- seriously. I rarely see them except as they leap out of the way.

I agree, country living is never boring. There's always lots to see. We finally got some rain here, after being by-passed by the last 2 systems.

I wouldn't trade life in the country for anything:) I love everything about it except the ticks. Lately the dog and I have been walking up to the wetland area and listening to the peepers. Guess it doesn't take much to keep country gals entertained:)

I'm so glad you're enjoying your camera! You're taking some beautiful photos, that's for sure. I loved the series of the deer crossing the road, but the FROG--now that is a really cool picture. You should frame some of your little wildlife photos--they're so pretty, and they would look great hanging together!

Loved all your pics today, is that really a blue bird? He looks all red, like a robin!

Thanks everybody! And thanks Denise for the info on linking back in my post. I'll try it soon to see if I can make it work. The bluebird is the female. She is very red underneath and lighter blue on her back side. The male has a much deeper blue back. He wouldn't participate in my picture taking. Carla

Country life is the best! I love, love your pics - all of them! Seeing creation through a camera lens somehow magnifies the wonder of it all, doesn't it?

Thanks so much for the prayers, and I'm praying for you, too!

Oh, I loved seeing all your friends! I have never in my life seen a bluebird in anything but photos! Aren't they gorgeous?? Loved Mr. Turkey, too! And we got our first hummers - a male and a female within 10 minutes of each other shortly after I posted about not having any hummers! They must read my blog? Have a wonderful evening!... It will be awhile, here in the "frozen tundra", before vegetables start to grow. We have already enjoyed asparagus, however. I do so miss the south in the springtime. Your photographs are wonderful!!

Best,
Bonnie
