I Want More!

Today the weather was absolutely beautiful. The day was cool and breezy; a perfect day to be out and about. I just took my camera and sat quietly in a chair on the patio enjoying the cool breeze. During that time of quiet contemplation, I noticed several things that I wish I had more of in my yard.

One of the things I noticed was a lonely little ladybug crawling on a green leaf.

Why do they invade the house in the fall but seem to be extinct in the spring?

Seriously, in the fall I have them all over my house. I would rather have them invade my garden. I would like to have about a million of these little fellers.

I would also like to have some more of these.

My mom and dad have so many hummingbirds that dog fights are constantly breaking out near the feeders. I want more!

Now these have the most heavenly scent that permeates the air around my patio.

I only have two dwarf gardenias in my landscape. That is not enough. I want more!

Are you seeing the pattern here? Is there anything that you would like to have more of in your garden?

Since I am working on the lawn work now, there is less that I want. Less weeds, less lawn to mow.... Love those dwarf gardenias. I so wish that I had smellavision when someone posts pics of flowers!

Sweet. I want more too-money:) The ladybugs invading your house in the fall are Asian lady beetles, not the same as our native ones you are most likely seeing now. They are really annoying in the house for sure. Love those gardenias! They smell so good! Them and honeysuckles are so fragrant this year that it is amazing.

Oh my, your gardenias look gorgeous. I'd like to see my veg in my garden and less beetles! We do have a lot more ladybugs I'm pleased to say. And guess what.... I can finally see broccoli :-) I am so excited, don't know how long it takes for the head to be big enough to cut, but I see the start of it - finally.
Have a great weekend.
hugs
Denise

I get the Asian lady beetles in my house too. Frustrating! One thing I don't have tho, is aphids. Haven't seen an aphid in a long time.

Those gardenias are just beautiful. Wish I could smell them

I'd love to have more garden . . . and good soil around our place . . . and the energy to build new beds and add good soil!

Great pics! I love ladybugs and gardenias, too! My gardenia bush looks unhealthy this year and hasn't bloomed yet.

Hi Carla! At least, you have a few ladybugs. Once, I bought a bunch of them for my garden. Next day, they were gone! Ha-ha! Gardenia doesn't grow well here. Yours looks terrific!

I just found your blog and it's great. I like ladybugs, but the invade our house in the fall, too. We aren't having many hummingbirds visiting the feeder yet. I did put the feeder out, but they are slow about coming. I love to watch the hummingbirds at the feeder. Your gardenias are very pretty. I don't have any, but sure like these flowers. Please visit my blog at: http://blueridgepoet.blogspot.com. I live in North Carolina, too.

My hubby is always finding lady bugs here and there cuddled together during the winter at different work buildings. Yet I only find a few here too, all lonesome, and working very hard! My brother-in-law lives by a river, and they will get sometimes 30 hummingbirds! It was so amazing!! I guess we just need to keep our feeders handy for those sweet birds. I have two huge gardenia bushes by my front deck loaded with buds. I can't wait for them to bloom! Every year we have to cut the bush back as they will grow so tall, so hubby who loves them, will ask me to put all the cuttings in the dirt. I have quite a few growing that way. I hope you have lovely weather this weekend!

Love the ladybugs - always a joy to find them. I'm looking forward to seeing the bumblebees, dragonflies and butterflies. Most of all, I'm looking forward to seeing my plants come up - the bunnies have been eating them as fast as they can come up, so I am trying different things to encourage them to dine elsewhere! :)

Enjoy your weekend!

Alas, we are too far north to have gardenias. They are lovely!

I stopped by to thank you for coming with me to "Mitford". I had a great time with so many nice traveling companions.

Best,
Bonnie

Hi there Carla, I absolutely love your gardenia flowers. The foliage looks my kind of plant too. Don’t know if this one would grow in Scotland. Might investigate :-)

So far we have escaped the ladybird winter squatters. They do invade English houses though. I do like to see them in the garden :-)

What do I want more of? In the plant world… Meconopsis. I adore these blue poppies. I also want more camera action on the wildife front. Greedy perhaps, I’m loving watching our nesting bird and really looking forward to see the chicks hatch but I want more hedgehog action… a Mum to be using our hedgehog house to have her babies would be excellent… there’s a camera in there :-D
