We had a great time in Nashville this past weekend! Our trip was pretty much centered around Carson's love for country music and her dream to be a singer someday. I thought that I might just give a few highlights today and post a little more detail each day about the places we visited and the people that we met.
We splurged a little on this trip and stayed in the Gaylord Opryland Resort. What fun! I'll have to do a whole post on the resort to share some more pictures of the conservatory gardens in the hotel.
One of the highlights of my weekend was meeting Tina from In A Garden. She and her family drove over an hour to come to the hotel to meet us. She even brought me some plants for my garden. How sweet is that!! She is the first of my blogging friends that I have had the chance to meet in person. I'll certainly have to blog about that later in the week.
One of Catie and Carson's highlights was meeting Neil from The Band Perry in the hotel lobby. He was really sweet to stop and have a picture made with them.
Of course Carson had to see The Bluebird Cafe. It was not at all what we expected. She wants to sing there the next time she is in Nashville.
This is the Ryman...the first home to the Grand Ole Opry.
We enjoyed a show and backstage tour of the current Grand Ole Opry. Carson enjoyed standing on the hallowed circle where all of the great country music stars have stood. Could this be a future star here?
We have never seen so many big guitars!
We all loved Nashville! It is such a lively city with so much to do. Two days were not enough to see all that we would have liked. I think a longer trip will be in our future.
The weekend was warm in Nashville and at home. This morning I was greeted by a few surprises in my own little corner of the world.
No matter how far I roam, there's no place like home! Hope your weekend was filled with joy!

AWESOME! AWESOME! AWESOME! So glad to see this post up!! Your pictures of Nashville are wonderful! It's neat to read about something we do in real life on a blog! So cool! Love the picture of us too! I think a lot of folks will be happy to see what you look like-I know I was very happy to see and meet you finally! I am working on my post on our visit. You are the 13th blogger I've met and I haven't been disappointed yet so I hope I'm not the last of the bloggers you meet!
On a side note, Jimmy is MOST impressed with Carson's demo cd. He listened to it and loves it! I hope she has good luck from your trip and isn't it wonderful the girls got to meet a band member? That hotel is incredible! I'm so glad you got some pics as I did not:( Maybe next time.
It was a pleasure meeting you, your hubby and the girls! We are still smiling with the good memory of meeting you all!
Woot! What a wonderful trip!!!! A place I may never see but wish I could...if only to stand by that guitar:))
Happy to see spring pictures!!!!
This sounds like a great trip! I have never been to Nashville so I will look forward to your subsequent posts - I enjoy traveling vicariously.
It is so amazing how your virtual friends become real, I hope it happens to me too.
Thanks for the great story!
Thanks for the "tour". I remember the Ryman! I believe your photo is of the side? The entrance has wide steps--or used to have wide steps. What fun for all of you. Look forward to more.
Best,
Bonnie
I enjoyed the report of your trip and oh the lovely flowers of home.
So good to see she was feeling better and was able to go. I bet that is a thrill of a lifetime for her to stand on that famous part of the stage where all the great ones stood. I am sure the next time she stands there, she will be singing her heart.
It looks like you had a wonderful trip. I got so caught up with things here that I forgot to let you know that my uncle is in Florida til March. Sorry! I am such an airhead some times! Carson looks like she is in 7th heaven though. Can't wait to hear more about your trip!
Wow!! And I mean Wow!! I would love to visit that town. What a fun time... and you look so pretty, Carla. :)
I hope this Nashville visit will inspire Carson with her music. So many have walked those streets with dreams that came true! I was so sad to drive past the Opry Hotel last May when it was flooded. I spent the night there once and it is an awesome place to stroll about. Christmas time is a must visit as well with all the beautiful lights and decorations. I must take another visit to see the renovations of one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever seen. Cant wait to see the post to come on your visit. Tina is an awesome gardener to meet in person isn’t she?
Nice photos of a memorable trip. Wish I could have been there.
Sounds like a great trip! How fun!
Love your photos! We drove by the Grand Ole Opry and the Gaylord and stopped so that I could take a pic of the outside, but that's as close as we've been. Sounds like a wonderful trip - especially for Carson! Who knows . . . she may be standing in that circle as a performer one day!! And I can say I had one of her demo CD's when she was in high school!
Everything about your trip sounds memorable, and fun. Must have been so very special for Carson. She is a lovely girl! Such a blessing that you all were able to enjoy it together. I enjoyed all your pictures--would love to visit there sometime-been to Tennessee-Look Out Mountain and the Smokey Mountains-but not to Nashville. Looks like Spring is around the corner for you-that's a happy thing!!!
Have a wonderful week-With love from the Cabin,
Claudia
What a wonderful weekend for your family! And--it's so great that you met Tina and her family! They stopped by here a few summers back.
Carson sounds so enthusiastic about her music. I do hope her dreams come true. Will she audition for American Idol in the future? Scott, the NC country singer made it to the semifinals last night!
