Still Standing

What do I have in common with this old house?

It may have chipped paint, falling chimneys, and some termite damage... however, after many years of abuse from the elements it is still standing.

Although I have not suffered for years like this old house, I have been a little under the weather for almost a year now with not much help from modern medicine. I feel a bit like my paint has been chipped away a little, however, Praise God, I am still standing!

"Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior, who daily bears our burdens." Psalm 68:19

I'm glad you're still standing! Trusting the "Master Repairman" will shore up the sagging rafters and apply a fresh layer of paint in the very near future.

I love the scripture you posted - especially the "daily" part! He's always with us! I have prayed for you and will continue to do so and hope that you see improvement soon. May you feel His peace and strength as never before.

The beautiful old house photo is such a perfect illustration for those times in our lives when our bodies seem to be falling apart! I think of the words of Paul, "cast down but not destroyed."

I'm so sorry to hear that you have been under the weather for so long. I hope that you, like this dear old house, will withstand and be (as I hope for the house) returned to good health.

Best,
Bonnie

dear carla,

first, i would have NEVER known by your cheerful,
encouraging posts all these months, that you have
been struggling with a health issue.

second, now that i do know, i will add you to my
evening prayer list, right below dear 'emily''s five
precious little ones.

love,

I'm right there with ya praising God that I am still standing...but I don't necessarily mean physically...I mean standing in my faith. I've had several difficult years, with fertility issues, adoption roadblocks, financial issues, medical issues, and there were times I could have abandoned my faith...but, PRAISE God, Jesus is faithful, and not only does he bear our burdens as you've shared, but he holds us in his hand and keeps us from falling away. I do, indeed, praise him for giving me the continued faith to believe even when I do not see.

Saying a prayer for you right now, that you would continue to stand strong, and that you would know renewed health and strengh.

Blessings,
Patti

Thank you all for your prayers. I know that God hears and will answer each one. I am so thankful for my 'blogger' friends who are not just friends, but fellow believers. God bless you all. Carla

What a beautiful post, Carla. I am familiar with what you describe here, and God has also been my refuge. I really appreciate hearing such transparency from other women - I find it encouraging to share one another's burden, even if we are only virtual friends! I also will lift you up before God as I go throughout my day.

Oh Carla! I am hoping that something will come along to help you with your health issues. I don't take much stock in modern medicine, but there are times when they are needed. I like to use herbs, nature and God's gift to us, but even with those you have to be careful. Like the old worn out house (which is the way I feel some days!)still standing because it was built strong; so too are we. I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers.
Take Care,
Ulrike

Remember to choose or create a plan to show positive results! I have begun a new journey with a passion for wellness - I have a trainer, I ran a 5K, another one planned and I am feeling more open, more energetic.
God wants us to choose wisely, and that devil is always chipping away at each of us, tempting us to crumble.
I wish you a good year ahead into the light, full of love -
