Busy Week

This week has been very busy in our household. I haven't had time for blogging much due to all of the other activities happening around here. However, I am having withdrawals. I need to post something. So here it goes.

Most of the time we show our best sides in the blogging world, but I need to confess something. My house is a wreck! It looks like a tornado has been through it. Look at my beautiful sunroom.

I do actually have an excuse for this mess. (Doesn't everyone always have an excuse?) Really, I do. We are getting ready to have a yard sale this weekend at my mom and dad's beach home. I ususally donate our items to Goodwill, but we decided that it would be good for the girls to see what a yard sale is all about. Carson has already learned a lot just from the planning of the sale. She was surprised at how her items were priced much lower than the original cost. It has made her think twice about spending on items that are short lived. That's a pretty good lesson to learn.

We have also spent a good bit of time this week getting the kittens used to being outside. Although, they are perfectly content being inside, it is time for them to help me out a little. You may remember my post about my vole problem. Well, these kitties were added to our family to help Mo and it is time for them to get busy.

First, they have to get to know their fellow vole killer, Mo. I'm not sure that they fully trust her yet.

Even though this week has been very busy, we have still been enjoying some of the simple pleasures of living in the country. My favorite pleasure this week....grilled broccoli fresh from the garden. Just drizzle a little olive oil, salt and pepper, then grill. Yummy!

Now, you know what I've been up to this week. What's been going on in your household?

Growing Babies!

Our new babies, Voltaire and Garth, are really growing. We got them a couple of weeks ago at a local animal shelter and they have already stolen our hearts. We took them to the vet for their first visit and second round of shots. They behaved themselves very well and got a clean bill of health. It is funny how each one of their personalities match each one of my girls who own them. How did that happen to work out? Anyway, they are growing faster than the weeds in my garden. (Maybe that is a slight exaggeration; the weeds are growing pretty fast.)

They have learned to climb up the curtains. (I'm not quite sure I like that!)

They have become very, very comfortable in their new home. (I think they have taken over.)

They didn't mind the car ride to the vet's office. (My doggies always get car sick.)

The best animal hospital for miles around is only five miles from my house. (How did we get that lucky?)

They were perfect little patients while at the doctor. (What angels!)

As you can see, they are growing into perfect young ladies. Just like their owners!

All Is Quiet on the Home Front

After a busy weekend of prom dress shopping and two performances of our Easter Drama at church, all is finally quiet on the home front. We have settled into spring nicely with temperatures that are in the sixties. We are expecting an eighty degree day later in the week. The initial excitement of spring blooming has settled down a bit and things are growing steadily. Our newest additions to the family are very comfortable in their new surroundings.

Garth loves to snuggle in the soft blankie for a little nap.

Voltaire thinks that Catie needs help with her homework.

The garden is still alive and seems to have grown a little. Boy, does gardening take patience!

My two rows of garlic have finally popped up through the ground. I wasn't sure if they would grow very well here. I have never known anyone to try it.

Finally, my spirea has fully bloomed- much later than usual.

As you can see, things are pretty quiet around here right now. I expect to spend a lot of time working in my flower beds later this week. The prediction of warm, sunny weather makes me realize how much there is to do in the next few weeks. However, I think I'll enjoy the peace and quiet for a little while longer.
