One of the most important necessities of life is shelter. This necessity is often taken for granted. We have already had quite a few cold, rainy days this fall that have made me pause and thank God for my nice warm home.
On a recent dreary day I noticed a little fellow that did not seem to be as fortunate as myself.
I wonder why he is choosing to sit in the rain?
And just when I thought he was strange, I noticed that he wasn't alone.
Are there any reptile specialists out there that have an explanation for this?
From the warmth of my own place of shelter, I noticed something else. The Camellia was almost ready to bloom!
After a couple of days of rain, the sun came out again...and so did the blooms!
I am so thankful that God has provided me shelter from the weather! I am also thankful that He chose to surround it with the beauty of His creation. Is there something that you are thankful for today?

Caffeine! I am so stinking tired being up until 3 am not being able to sleep and back up at 5 that I can't think straight! What a gorgeous camellia!
You are graced with a gift for writing that is so peaceful and pleasant, Carla
Thank for sharing your photos and reverence for God.
smiles and hugs,
Pam
Maybe the rain shower felt good to the little guy. We had some much needed rain here recently. It sure does feel good to be home with a fire in the fireplace, a cup of hot tea in hand and my sweetie next to me.
Blessings,
Danielle
Cute little lizard. I think the ground is still so warm the amphibians are slow to bury into the ground this year but soon they'll all be gone. Lovely camelia! It's a great time of the year for them!
Milá Carla!
Velice děkuji za vaše návštěvy.
Mám velkou radost.
Posílám pozdrav od nás.
Vaše fotky jsou nádherné...
...i to zvířátko.
Krásný víkend,
Soňa
Lovely post! The anoles like to hang out near the gardener. They seem almost fascinated by people, don't they? I feel like they watch me as much as I watch them.
I'm goad to hear from you again Carla! What pretty blooms those are. Can't wait to see more pictures of your beautiful Southern Shelter soon. xoxo
He's so well camouflaged that I could hardly find him in the photo!
Camillias are lovely. I need to find space for one in my yard.
Your Camellia is beautiful, Carla! So nice to see lovely pink in fall!
But those two creatures are adorable! We don't have them here. But we have a bunny and squirrels whom we like to watch.
I am grateful for the colorful fall trees and of course for the warm house and my family. I am also grateful for your kind comment on my blog!
Today I want out on a bush track and photographed wildflowers ... I was thankful for the break from work I had 5 years ago when I first started looking at the wildflowers closely ... it has been such a joy to contemplate God's world and provision in detail ever since.
I love Camellias and tried in vain to grow them when we lived in the north.
Have a blessed Sunday, Carla.
hugs,
Pam
One of the most beautiful things in my life and for which I am incredibly thankful is the relationship I have with my 21 year old daughter. She is my dearest friend in the world, and we have such fun together.
I know many women who are not close to their daughters, and my daughter has at least 3 friends/acquaintances who have told her that they are not close to their moms and that they envy the relationship we share.
So that reminds me that what she and I share is not a "given." I am blessed beyond measure, and I give thanks to God for it.
Love,
Patti
Lovely post. I'm going out to see if my Camellia is getting buds.
Have a great week,
Babs
I'm thankful, too, for my home - and my family! I'm so grateful that we were able to witness my son baptize his three children recently!
Your pics are great! I always enjoy rainy day photos . . . and the camellia is a gorgeous shade of pink.
Hope you have a week full of simple pleasures!
We have quite a few of those little ones running around, but I have no idea as why they stayed in the rain. Love your camellia! I just bought one the other day too, and I have some that hubby brought home from a place being demolished, but they have yet to bloom so I'm not sure what color they are.
I was out for a lunchtime walk and there was the most amazing camellia. I need to plant one - for so many reasons! Warmly . . . Tracey
