Great News!

Some of you know that we have been waiting for a couple of months on some college admissions letters for my oldest daughter, Catie. Well, thank goodness, this weekend brought some great news...she received her acceptance letter from UNC-Chapel Hill! We are so excited! Even though we are still waiting on letters from two more schools, it seems the pressure has been lifted since this is one of her top choices.

She is such a hardworking student and her dad and I are very proud of the young lady she is becoming. She hopes to be a college professor some day. I think any student would be lucky to be in her class!

On another note, Carson's full band production is almost finished. Her producer has done a great job finding excellent musicians to record her music. It sounds great! He is flying in sometime next week to record her final vocals. She is so excited to finally get to work with him in person.

He will be staying with us in our home. Since we don't have very many out of town guest, I need some suggestions from all of you bloggers out there who frequently have house guests. Feel free to give me some of your best hosting tips!

As you can see, the next week or so will be really busy around here and my blogging may be limited. However, I will stop by to see what each of you have going on in order to avoid withdrawals. I hope you all have a blessed first week of spring!

First of all, congrats on her acceptance to Chapel Hill. We are Duke fans but recognize how hard it is for kids to get into these top colleges these days! Good for her!!

House guests: Have the coffee pot ready to hit brew with instructions on how to do it. Leave out a mug and sweetener and a note about the creamer. Put towels in bedroom along with a toothbrush/paste in case he forgot his. Men are pretty easy and don't expect much more tan a hot shower and a full stomach! This must be a dream come true for Carson!

Congratulations to both of your beautiful girls!! It seems like only yesterday we were waiting for college acceptances to come in and now the boys are graduates and employed! Once you've ascertained any food allergies, etc., I'd suggest preparing some dishes that can be frozen ahead or at least prepared up to a point. I never like to be stuck in the kitchen while the guests are entertaining themselves. For overnight guests, I always put out a basket of toilet articles and plenty of fluffy towels in the guest room, a few magazines on the nightstand are a nice touch as well.

As for college, we were fortunate that the boys went in state as undergrads and we got to see them frequently. It's still hard to leave them off on move-in day. If UNC is the choice, Chapel Hill is a great college town!!

Best,
Bonnie

Yipppeee!!!! Congratulations to both your girls!

As a host I like to make up a basket of goodies (local interest magazines, books, candies, fruit, etc.) to leave in the guest room.

Congratulations to both your beautiful girls!

We live about 1.5 hours from Luzern, Carla, to the Northwest. Would love to have your two beloveds for a meal or an afternoon if they want to squeeze it in. No pressure at all. You can email me for details of where we live if they're interested! xoxo

Congratulations to Catie on her acceptance to UNC.

Good luck with Carson's final vocal recording. I've never had an extended guest that wasn't family. A man should be pretty easy - just make sure he is fed!

Carla, YEAH for Catie and Carson; I know you are so proud. I know you will make your out of town guest feel "right at home". No suggestions, just be yourself and I'm sure all will go well. Blessings!

Congratulations to Cati! How wonderful for her! Your two girls sure are beauties! They must get that from their mom!

How about a guest basket left on the bed? Toothbrush, comb, soap, towel, washcloth, bottled water. Little things that maybe someone might have forgotten. Little treats for late night snacks? A pair of slippers?

What excitement at your place!!! Great news for Catie - and for Carson! They are both beautiful and talented girls, and you should feel extremely proud!

I don't have house guests other than family, so I won't be any help to you! I know that you'll be the perfect hostess!

That's great news for both your girls:)
I only seem to have my sister come stay with us from England so not sure about advice for guests? I give them Kristen's bathroom and let Kristen use ours while they're here, but that's about it.

It's great to see both of your daughters doing so well. You have a lovely home and property which seems like the perfect place for your guest to just relax and enjoy the company of you and your family.

We are waiting on news x2 for our twin seniors! It is such a stress filled time but we need to celebrate all the good and keep focus on all the good blessings. Congrats to you and your girls. For guests, I think kindness and a nice home cooked meal is really special. Perhaps a local souvenir, something small or a book on your home-town. Just a little something to remember or a card from your daughter or CD!

Very exciting news for both of your daughter. I always put fresh flowers in my guest room and try to find out what they like in their coffee and snacks so I can stock up my house.

CONGRATULATIONS! Getting into UNC-CH is no mean feat. Preston was so relieved to get that letter! He's still getting offers from various colleges, so he hasn't made a final decision yet. . . but wouldn't it be cool if he and Catie were to meet some day? I'd love that! :)

By the way, the photos of your girls are beautiful. And knowing you, I'm quite sure they're just as beautiful on the inside as they are on the outside!
