I looked at the date on my last post and could not believe how long it has been. I have gotten a little behind on blogging lately. John has been out of town a good bit for his job and I have been trying to keep everything together here at home. With school to teach, animals to feed, and kids to taxi there is not much time for anything else. I always miss him so much when he is gone.
He has been building a Family Dollar store in Hurlock, Maryland, near the Chesapeake Bay. I had the opportunity to travel with him there a couple of weeks ago and loved the area. It has some of the most beautiful farmland that I have ever seen. Another thing about the area that I noticed was the many places that sold Adirondack chairs. These stood out to me because I have been looking for some new chairs for our pier. We have had the old ones since we got married and they have seen better days. Unfortunately, we had to hurry home and did not get to stop to check the prices.
Imagine my surprise when John came home last Thursday with a something special for me. (Now, he is not the most romantic man in the world, but every once in a while he does something that totally catches me off guard.) It was about 9:30 Thursday evening when he pulled into the drive from the long trip. He called me outside to show me something....two beautiful chairs and a table! He said that it was a gift to celebrate the anniversary of our first kiss. Can you believe that? He always remembers that date. Isn't that sweet?
He set them off of the truck in the side yard.
They are still there today. It is the perfect place to see the pond and to view the moon and the stars.
I don't think that I want to move them to the pier. What do you think?
Maybe we need to purchase two more.
Even the kitty likes them exactly where they are.
Can't you just imagine cool fall nights with a blanket and a glass of wine under the light of a full moon?
Now, if we can just get rid of the ninety degree days here in North Carolina, maybe I won't have to imagine.
I thank God everyday for my wonderful husband! He is always full of surprises.

They are beautiful!!! What a lovely and thoughtful gift from your dear husband.
Congratulations on your "anniversary."
Have a lovely day,
Patti
What a wonderful gift! I have two adirondack chairs in my back yard, too, and now I'm dreaming of those cool fall nights with a glass of wine under the full moon. Hurry up, Fall - chase these 90 degree days away! (I did see that it's going to be a little cooler Sunday with a 40% chance of rain!)
What beautiful chairs! What a thoughtful (and very romantic) man, your John! They certainly look well-placed to me - although I'm sure they'd be great on the dock, too :)
What a sweet husband you have! I love the design of your new chairs.
Those chairs bring back memories of my childhood. Of course, we were in Roanoke, VA and had no pier or lake. We did have a big lawn. My sisters and I spent many hours in those chairs--reading and sipping lemonade. I think it is so special that your husband celebrated the anniversary of your first kiss!
Best,
Bonnie
What a lovely surprise and a very sweet husband. I reckon they have already found their home.
That is so sweet...such a good husband. And those chairs are DARLING. They do look wonderful there, but I sure would like to see a picture of your pier. That has my curiosity peaked! A pier on your own pond!
After seeing it I could give my two cents on where I think the chairs should be put. But I agree with you that a glass of wine and a warm blanket would do those chairs justice next month! With a sweet kiss to boot. :D
You do have a romantic hubby, you just dont know it. They do like to pretend they are not romantic then something sweet such as a pair of chairs proves differently. How sweet he remembers that first kiss. I dont even remember my hubby and my first kiss, lol. Yep, kitty says these chairs need to stay where they are located and two more to be placed on the dock...
Love the sun brighten sky and the Blue Ridge parkway below :-)
You are Blessed girl...
Love, love the chairs . . . and they look perfect where they are! Don't you just love this kind of surprise?!! I'm sure the two of you will spend many cool nights there under the stars!
Beautiful!!!
Love those chairs & think they belong where they were placed by that special person in your life. It is so nice to be surprised by that special person. I miss mine. He use to send me flowers almost every day.
Yes, another pair for the pier.
what a wonderful surprise to commemorate the
first kiss! i hope you have many years of moon
watching!
He is definitely a keeper and a true blessing if he still celebrates your first kiss...
now that is quite romantic!
I think the chairs look right at home just where they are... you can always move them later if you what a change of scenery.
HOW ABSOLUTELY PERFECT!! What a Sweetheart!!
Carla, that is one fine man you have there.. thoughtful, loving and it sounds like rather romantic. ;) I know somebody else who would do that (around here). We are blessed.
The chairs are lovely and you should put them where they would get the "most" use, under the stars. ;) Have a wonderful weekend. Diana
What a nice pair of chairs for a lovely couple.

Awww, what a sweatheart he is! These look wonderful & I know you two will enjoy spending time together in them! :)
Have a lovely weekend,
Zuzu
Awwww - that is the most precious story! What a wonderfully romantic hubby you have there! The gift is wonderful, too.
I love those kinds of surprises! Practical and much wanted! How sweet! Yes, leave them there and get two more for the pier!!
Your chairs are perfect!!!
We saw so many of them in Cape Cod this summer - just couldn't work out a way to fit them in my suitcase to bring back to Ireland!
