Blooming Friday.....Camellias and Tiny Loropetalum Blooms

I was looking at some of the blooming Friday posts and decided that it was time for me to participate. I took my camera out this morning and found several plants in my yard blooming, but nothing looked as beautiful as the fall blooming camellias. I added them to my landscape several years ago and have not been disappointed. I hope you enjoy the blooms.


This camellia is actually climbing the side of my house that is seen first from the drive.


Although it is full of buds, the only ones that are opened are hiding near the wall at the bottom of the plant. I guess they are shy.


See....no visible blooms yet!


I believe that this little bee was hiding from his friends.


Speaking of hiding....do you use plants in your landscape to hide unsightly things?


I just had to sneak in this picture of the loropetalum bloom. It is tiny, but beautiful.


Camellias are one of the South's best plants.

    your camellias are gorgeous! i just added six or seven
    to my tiny flock last week.

    they are such a treasure in the winter.

    Camellias... Beautiful! I always wanted them but never planted them. I don't know why. Your pictures are so inspiring! I love the bee!

    I wish I had a green thumb. I'd love to be able to grow anything as beautiful as these camellias.

    Beautiful! When we lived in Charleston, we had nine lovely camellias that bloomed in January and February. I think we've seen the last of blossoms here until spring when they will be most welcome!

    Carla... I am exceedingly curious about your lovely brick house. There is no red brick here in Switzerland. What style is your house? Stately? Small?

    That little bee knows a good thing! Beautiful Camillias are a real southern treasure. I so love them. Just about now I am missing my summer flowers, and would LOVE to have these beauties to enjoy! What pretty pictures!

    I did enjoy your blooms! The bee is cute. I don't have any camelias and I'm not sure why. We have quite a few loropetalum in our front flower beds. I love that they surprise us with blooms throughout the year. Thanks for sharing! Have a blessed weekend!

    Beautiful Camellias. They'll just get better as they age. My favorites are the soft pink ones like you have. I've seen some gorgeous big camellias covered in flowers when running errands. From their size I'd guess they're at least 15 years old.

    I definitely agree, Carla.. they are indeed precious flowers. I love their soft pink color.
    I too hide things behind some of my flowering bushes. They make a lovely screen.
